“In air” ultrasound system design for treating fumes: increase in the effectiveness of abatement of fine particulate matter

Everywave is designing a special ultrasound system which can produce very high sound pressures (more than 160 dB) in the air, aimed at increasing the effectiveness of abatement of fine particulate matter in exhaust fumes. The operating principle consists in the fact that the fine particulate matter is made to vibrate by the ultrasonic wave and there is thus an increase of collisions with and agglomerations onto larger particles.
The system is made up of a high-power ultrasonic converter and a “power factor corrected” vibrating plate in titanium, as can be seen in the following simulation picture:
